MCETDear friends,

We would like to welcome you to the internet space of the Macedonian Centre for European Training or MCET as we like to call it. Back in the year 2000 we started as a group of people that wanted to learn some more about the European Union. So after the call for applications was published for the Course “Introduction to EU Structures – Train the Trainer Programme” we all applied and were the most successful candidates, and were chosen as participants. The programme was funded by the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs through, the Foundation InWEnt from Bonn, and co-funded locally by the Foundation Open Society Institute Macedonia. During the training period from December 2000 to December 2002 we got to know each other and became just like the EU, “United in Diversity”.

After the programme ended, and we all were awarded our certificates we became this time “United Under the Same Mission” to support the accession of Macedonia within the EU by means of professional training, consultancy, advocacy and policy development.

Since its establishment and until the end of 2007 the Macedonian Centre for European Training has delivered 387 days of training during which 2979 people were trained in different aspects of the EU and its Common Policies. Within this period MCET and its members worked on several EU financed projects as consultants, coached the staff of the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning and the Ministry of Finance for the elaboration of the Project Fiche and the Working Plan for the Twinning Projects implemented within this ministries, and drafted and elaborated several Policy Papers and entered into lobbying for change. Furthermore we from MCET upgraded our capacities both in the sense of knowledge and expertise and also personnel as we trained our very own group of EU Trainers that was certified and is now actively involved in the everyday work of the organisation.

With all this we earned the title as Centre of Excellence for EU Affairs, given to us by our partners and clients.

If you have chosen to work with the Macedonian Centre for European Training then you’ve made the right choice.

Sincerely,
MCET Team
