The Foundation Open Society Institute Macedonia and the Macedonian Centre for European Training are organising a Conference “Quo Vadis, Macedonia?” on November 17th 2008 in the hotel “Holiday-Inn” in Skopje. The conference will focus on the Progress Report of the European Commission for the Republic of Macedonia for 2008 and the fulfilment of the Benchmarks of the Accession Partnership of February 2008. The four plenary sessions of the conference within which several key note speakers will give an introduction and plant the debate that will follow will give to Civil Society, Ministers and Members of Parliament, International and Local Experts the opportunity to state their opinions and debate on the main issuindexes and phases of the Accession Process.
The sessions of the conference are organised in the following order:
- THREE YEARS WITHOUT RECOMMENDATION FOR OPENING OF ACCESSION NEGOTIATIONS
- WHAT DID WE DO RIGHT AND WHERE DID WE GO WRONG? (Analysis of the fulfilment of the Benchmarks of the Accession Partnership of February 2008)
- EMPTY LEAP (Analysis of the Analytical and Progress Reports 2005-2008)
- AND NOW WHAT? (What should be the future steps of Macedonia in the EU Accession)
As key note speakers have been invited and confirmed their participation: H.E. Mr. Erwan Fouéré, Ambassador-Head of the EU Mission and Mr. Patrick Pacquet of the EU Mission; Ms. Liljana Popovska MP, Deputy-Chairperson of the Committee on EU Affairs and Mr. Jovan Manasievski MP, Chairperson of the Committee on Budget and Finances; Mr. Ljubomir Danailov-Frckoski Ph.D. of the Faculty of Law “Iustinianus Primus”; Mr. German Filkov, President of the Centre for Civic Communications; Ms. Radmila Sekerinska MP, Chairperson of the National Council on European Integration; Ms. Vesela Tcherneva, Senior Policy Fellow and Head of the Sofia Office of the European Council for Foreign Relations; Mr. Jordi Vaquer, Programme Director for Europe of the Centre for International Relations and Development Studies from Barcelona, Spain; and Mr. Vladimir Gligorov from the Vienna Institute on International Economy.
